Work Before Studio

A:The Creative Work
-

This is a set of three personal signatures (Vivian) I designed in Year 11.
The first one is more similar to the ordinary signatures that you would see everywhere. The second one is more creative and the third one is not just a signature but also can be pattern.
I'm very satisfied with this work as it shows how the creativity improved during the experiments.

B: The Great Architecture Image

This is the Great Temple of Abu Simbel, which was originally carved out of the mountainside during the reign of Pharaoh Ramesses II in the 13th century BC, to commemorate his alleged victory at the Battle of Kadesh, and to intimidate his Nubian neighbors. Four colossal 20 meter statues of the pharaoh decorate the facade of the temple and these statues were sculptured directly from the rock. There is also four statues inside the temple, which is Ra-Horakhty , the deified king Ramesses II, and the gods Amun Ra and Ptah . Ra-Horakhty , Amun Ra and Ptah were the main divinities in that period.
In 1964 the entire site of Abu Simbel temples was dismantled and reassembled in a new location, 65 m higher and 200 m back from the river to avoid being submerged by the artificial Lake Nasser.
I’ve been to this place just one month ago and it is so impressive. A part from those fabulous statues, magnificent hypostyle hall and sophisticate petroglyphy, the most exciting part of this structure is that the axis of the temple was positioned by the ancient Egyptian architects in such a way that twice a year, on October 20 and February 20, which is the king's birthday and coronation day, the rays of the sun would penetrate the sanctuary and illuminate the sculpture on the back wall, except for the statue of Ptah , the god connected with the Underworld , who always remained in the dark. It is a pity that although the modern astronomy is well-developed, due to error of the displacement of the temple, this event now occurs one day later than originally and the God of underworld is exposed in the sunlight.

C: ORIGINAL PHOTOGRAPH

This is a photograph I took in the edge of Sahara deserts. In the picture there is an old Egyptian man with his camel and some crude makeshift shacks at the back. The desert is very barren and the camel assisted in providing transportation, shelter, fuel and food, it is the hope of desert dweller’s life. This photo is trying to show that human is actually depends on these most beautiful camels.
